Malaysian Delegation Visit to RAKIA


A Malaysian delegation led by H.E Dato Yahaya Abdul Jabar, the Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE made a working visit to RAK Investment Authority (RAKIA) in Ras Al Khaimah on the 31st May 2009 and was received by its representatives, Mr Yahia Kambris, General Manager of RAKIA – Real Estate Regulatory Agency and Mr Ikmal Zainuddin, Chief Architect – Rakaez.

H.E Dato Yahaya was accompanied by Tn Syed Mohd Hasrin Aidid, the Malaysian Consul General in Dubai, Mr Abdul Razak, Agriculture Consul, Mr Haikal Hanib, Trade Vice Consul, Mr Khairul Anwar, Malaysian Timber Council and Mr Abdul Hakim Asmaun, Malaysian-UAE Business Council.

After an audience with H.H Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah at Dhaid Palace the delegation then proceeded to RAKIA head office in Al Hamra for a business briefing and presentation by Mr Alex Thomas, RAKIA Head of Marketing.

The working visit was arranged by the Embassy of Malaysia and Consulate General of Malaysia to foster closer ties between the two governments and to explore business and investment opportunities for Malaysian companies.


The delegation was then shown RAKIA’s signature project, Al Marjan Island developed by its development arm, RAKEEN. Dr. Fawzi Shadid, the Project Director showed the delegation around the island with a short briefing on the technologies adopted for the project and on the construction status of the man-made island and its individual development projects.

On the way to business lunch hosted at the Al Hamra Fort Hotel and Beach Resort, the delegation was also shown the 7 star ‘The Palace’ hotel under construction nearby.

After lunch, the delegation was briefed on the models and artist impressions of various projects undertaken by RAKEEN before they return home to Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Tn Syed Mohd Hasrin indicated that he would make a return visit to RAK to meet Malaysians that are working and residing here soon.
